Proposal State of Action: In evaluation

Rural systems are on the brink of some fundamental challenges which, on the one hand, pushes them to look for transformative solutions and, on the other hand, they must identify concepts, models, and instruments to consolidate the resilience of their particular values. We can say, at the limit, that rural worlds have disappeared. Our reality has urbanized in its most unknown hidden places. Everything comes from the city and comes back to the city. The new citizens of the world are the townies.

This change of paradigm has the following effects:

  • We are starting to forget that rural worlds still have fundamental problems, both local and
  • Over-urbanisation of each pole in urban-rural relations has devastating effects on
  • We are beginning to revalue what rural worlds offer, searching for rural solutions and perspectives for global problems
  • The rural is becoming a new exploratory vector in the strategic thinking of the urban-rural

In this framework, we need a strategic, smart, and systemic development of the rural worlds. Knowledge should produce new instruments for the strategic management of rural development in the context of new global challenges. În acest context, avem nevoie de o dezvoltare strategică, smart și sistemică a lumilor rurale.

The Rural-DRL project (Rural Development Readiness Level. Societal Systemic Cybernetics in Rural Ecosystem Development) will build an Integrated Cybernetic Model (RDRL), of high complexity for mapping the 4 pillars of strategic development in the rural environment:

  • Development Accessibility,
  • Development Security,
  • Development Resilience, and
  • Development

The RDRL Model will employ instruments for monitoring, analysis, and prediction by making use of new working methodologies with over 900 indicators from rural socioeconomics.
